No More Free Meals and Drinks

As of August 1, 2009, the railway company (PT Kereta Api) will no longer serve free meal and drink onboard executive-class passenger trains. According to the company's statement in its website, the purpose is to give train passengers the freedom to choose their own meals and drinks. As a consequence, fares will be reduced by Rp 5,000-Rp 20,000. Another breakthrough from the railway company?

Well, my next train travel will be on August 2 from Yogyakarta to Surabaya, and it costs me Rp 105,000 for the executive class. Hopefully the service will be better.
