yudhawijaya.com
My personal website as a playground for latest web technologies.
In the beginning was a competition with a friend to create a web page back when I was an undergraduate student in 1999. My first page was consisted of links to pages that I liked. The first host was Angelfire.com. At that time I also tried hard to create a guest book page until I was down on my knee because I did not know that to create such a thing required a server-side programming language (Perl) and a database to store information. That was why I moved to a personal guest book provider.
In 2001 there was a service offered a free .com domain for a year. Without further thinking, I registered yudhawijaya.com. The service added a quite big frame contained ad at the bottom of the page (if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys). At that time I was able to create a page layout using <table /> and installed a visitor counter.
After a year the domain was expired, and I was too busy working on my thesis and worked part-time as an English teacher.
October 2004 - I had been working fulltime had my own income - I checked the domain’s availability. Fortunately it was available at a cheap price. I rebought the domain and set up an account at tokoweb for it was the only (so far that I was aware of) Windows server hosting company in Indonesia (I recently just taught myself Active Server Pages/ASP).
April 2005 I moved to masterweb.com due to its cheaper monthly services and it also provided Chili!Soft ASP so that I did not have to make any changes. Unfortunately several months later there was a problem with Chili!Soft ASP so that I had to completely rewrite the site in PHP and MySQL.
After I worked as a professional web developer in 2013, I learned a about how to set up Apache or NGINX in Linux operating system in a virutal machine. I used the knowledge to set up my site in DigitalOcean and then Linode. Numerous virtual machines were created and destroyed in the process. Their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
In March 2020, when I effectively worked at home due to the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, I rebuilt the site with Nuxt.js and Tailwind CSS. I chose Storyblok as the content management system because it suited my needs (and it was free). I deployed the site with Vercel using GitLab (both were free). My yearly cost of the site was the domain yearly renewal cost.
